June 04, 2006

A 13-year-old boy died yesterday of injuries suffered in an accident at a construction site at Fort Meade military base in Anne Arundel County, a spokesman for the installation said.

Details were not released.

The base spokesman, Travis Edwards, said the accident occurred about 1 p.m. in the Potomac Place military community.

He said the boy, whose name was not released, was unresponsive when medical personnel arrived. He was taken to a military police post before being flown to Johns Hopkins Children's Center.

The boy was pronounced dead upon arrival, Edwards said. An investigation is continuing, he said.
