Metropolitan council plans regional expo

Anne Arundel County will participate in a regional procurement expo sponsored by the Baltimore Metropolitan Council and its standing committee, the Baltimore Regional Cooperative Purchasing Committee.

The expo will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the LaFontaine Bleu, 7514 S. Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.

The agenda will include a guest speaker, a brief workshop on government proposals, and networking opportunities. Participants will include purchasing officials from several counties in Maryland, as well as Baltimore City and Annapolis.

Business group sets developer showcase

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold its second annual Tour West County Expo & Developer Showcase from noon to 6 p.m. Friday. The expo will be held at the Pavilion at Fort Meade, Gate 3, at Blue Water Boulevard and Route 175.

This year's theme is "Education, Transportation and Quality of Life." The Tour West County Expo is an opportunity for businesses and nonprofit groups to showcase offerings. Activities are planned to inform and entertain the entire family.

Exhibit booths are available, and sponsor and exhibitor applications can be obtained on the chamber's Web site or by calling the office.

AACC offers culinary vacations

Anne Arundel Community College's Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Tourism Institute is offering two culinary travel experiences this summer:

June 17 to 27: A 10-day excursion with a guided tour of Rome, the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel before traveling to the Amalfi coast.

Aug. 5 to 12: A seven-day trip to the Pacific Northwest with tours to select wineries.

Chamber presents annual awards

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the Annual Business Awards at the Comcast Business Hall of Fame and Annual Business Awards ceremony.

Award recipients were: Bruce Abbott, the National Security Agency; Jerome J. Parks Cos. Inc.; Collabraspace Inc.; Pat Troy, Chesapeake Innovation Center; Annapolis Outreach Center; Sheraton Annapolis Hotel; and Thomas Baldwin.
