June 02, 2006|By NIA-MALIKA HENDERSON

Anne Arundel County police are investigating as a homicide the death of a Glen Burnie man this week.

The body of Joseph Charles Cortina Jr., 49, was discovered at his home in the 700 block of Old Stage Road by his estranged wife at about 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

A medical examiner determined Wednesday that Cortina had died as a result of blunt force trauma to the upper body, police said. Cortina was last seen alive Sunday about 7 p.m.

Officer Sara Schriver, an Anne Arundel police spokeswoman, said there was no sign of forced entry and that police are still trying to determine whether anything was taken from the residence.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Anne Arundel County Police Department at 410-222-8610.
