New Power Plant comedy club
The lowdown -- A new comedy club named Rascals opens tonight in the space the Improv vacated at the Power Plant last fall. Veteran comedian Carl LaBove is the venue's first performer. A grand opening is scheduled for this month.
If you go -- Rascals is at 6 Market Place in Power Plant Live. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday-Sunday and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $10 on Thursday and Sunday, and the show is 18 and older, and $15 Friday and Saturday, when the shows are 21 and older. There's also a two-item minimum. Call 410-545-0590.
Dundalk Idol contest wraps
The lowdown -- One winner will rise from a pool of seven finalists to become the next Dundalk Idol in the Dundalk Idol 2006 Final Round at 8 p.m. Saturday. Though the prize isn't as big as the American Idol receives, the champion does get $500, a spot in Dundalk's Fourth of July parade, a trophy and his or her choice of music or vocal lessons. Second- and third-place finishers will get karaoke machines.

Karmella's Game CD party
The lowdown -- Local electro-rockers Karmella's Game throws a CD release party at the Ottobar at 9:45 p.m. tomorrow. Second Saturday, AVEC and Pash are also billed. Concertgoers get a copy of the new album, The Art of Distraction, with the price of admission.
