Totem Pole's summer

The lowdown -- Totem Pole Playhouse, the summer theater in Fayetteville, Pa., opens its 56th season Saturday with a play about another summer pastime - baseball. Richard Dresser's Rounding Third is a bristlingly comic account of two diametrically opposed Little League dads. The season opener stars TJ Edwards and Paris Peet and is directed by Baltimorean Wil Love, Totem Pole's associate artistic director. Here's the rest of the Totem Pole lineup: I'll Be Back Before Midnight!, by Peter Colley (June 20-July 2); Incorruptible, by Michael Hollinger (July 5-16); Lend Me a Tenor, by Ken Ludwig (July 18-30); Sylvia, by A.R. Gurney (Aug. 1-13); and Forever Plaid, created by Stuart Ross (Aug. 15-27).

Tanner Part 2 at BMA

The lowdown -- The Baltimore Museum of Art rounds out its two-part Henry Ossawa Tanner series with Henry Ossawa Tanner and His Influence in America, which opens Wednesday and runs through Nov. 26. The new exhibit includes six of Tanner's paintings and about 40 other works by 20th-century African-American artists such as Hale Woodruff and Jacob Lawrence.

If you go -- The museum is on Art Museum Drive at North Charles and 31st streets. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Fridays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. first Thursdays.
