Women's Giving Circle elects Dorothy Harris

Dorothy V. Harris has been elected chairwoman of the advisory board of the Women's Giving Circle of Howard County, an organization of women philanthropists dedicated to addressing the needs of women and girls in the county.

She is vice president for special projects on children and families at Pal-Tech (Planning and Learning Technologies) Inc., and a member of the board of trustees of the Columbia Foundation.

Mary Ann Scully, president and chief executive officer of Howard Bank, has been elected vice chairwoman. She also is a member of the board of the Columbia Foundation.

Yolanda Bruno has been elected treasurer. An activist in women's issues, she is one of the co-founders of the Women's Giving Circle.

Newly appointed committee chairwomen include Buffy Beaudoin-Schwartz, public relations and communications; Jean F. Moon, grants; Lori Fuchs, donor development; and Barbara Lawson, nominating.

New members of the advisory board, which provides governance and directs the distribution of grants, are Cynthia Taliano, Beverly Koren, Pam Sorota-Mowery and Joanne Saltzberg.

Investment rep Slade wins service award

Harry Slade of Ellicott City, an Edward Jones investment representative, recently received the Managing Partner's Award for outstanding sales and service efforts during the past year. He was one of 300 of the firm's more than 9,000 investment representatives to receive the award.

Slade has been serving the Ellicott City area since 1997. The company has its headquarters in St. Louis.
