Repairs spur call to conserve water

Baltimore's Department of Public Works is asking residents in certain Baltimore and Baltimore County ZIP codes to conserve water in conjunction with repair work in Southwest Baltimore. Over the next five weeks, the department would like residents of the 21227, 21228, 21229 and 21250 areas to take shorter showers, run the dishwasher only when full and limit lawn watering. The department calls the conservation request a cautionary measure. It is possible, they say, that residents will notice a slight reduction in water pressure. The repairs have led to mandatory water restrictions in parts of Anne Arundel and Howard counties.
