PHILADELPHIA -- After a one-year absence, Le Moyne College returned to the top of NCAA Division II men's lacrosse yesterday with a 12-5 victory over fellow New York state school Dowling in the championship game at Lincoln Financial Field.

Le Moyne completed an 18-0 season. It won the 2004 national championship, but lost to Limestone in the semifinals last season.

All-America Dolphins attackman Mike McDonald (four goals) was named the Most Outstanding Player of the game.

Le Moyne steadily pulled away from the Golden Lions (12-2), who were blanked in the fourth quarter.

Four other Le Moyne players were named to the Division II All-America team: midfielder Matt Cassalia, defensemen Chris Doran and Travis Tarr and goaltender Jared Corcoran. kent.baker@baltsun.com
