TODAY

MEMORIAL DAY EVENTS -- Memorial Day observances in the area will include ceremonies at 9:30 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, 2400 E. Fort Ave.; at 11 a.m. at the Circle of the Immortals, Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 E. Padonia Road, Timonium; at 1 p.m. aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Taney at Pier 5 in the Inner Harbor; and at 1:30 p.m. at Old Saint Paul's Cemetery on Redwood Street.

TOMORROW

BELL CONCERT -- The Freedom Area Ringers hand bell choir will hold its end-of-year concert at 7 p.m. at Oklahoma Road Middle School in Sykesville. Admission is free. 410-549-6296.

WEDNESDAY

SENIOR FITNESS DAY -- A national Senior Health and Fitness Day celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Waxter Senior Center, 1000 Cathedral St. The event is sponsored by the city Recreation and Parks Department and the Commission on Aging and Retirement Education. Admission is free.

YOUTH COMMISSION -- The Baltimore City Youth Commission will hold an informational hearing on the city's rising juvenile homicide rate at 5 p.m. in the Curran Conference Room on the fourth floor of City Hall, 100 N. Holliday St.

FRIDAY

POLISH FESTIVAL -- Baltimore's annual Showcase of Nations series of ethnic festivals will begin with the Polish Festival from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Patterson Park, Linwood and Eastern avenues. The festival will continue from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission for adults is $2 Friday and $4 Saturday and Sunday. 410-879-6336.

BOOK SALE -- Havre de Grace Friends of the Library will hold its annual June book sale during library hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the library meeting room, 120 N. Union Ave. An indoor and outdoor sale will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting. 410-939-6700.

SATURDAY

CHARLES VILLAGE FESTIVAL -- The annual Charles Village Festival parade will begin at 10 a.m. at 25th and St. Paul streets. It will proceed on St. Paul to 33rd Street, then south on Charles Street to 29th Street. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will continue Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. www.charlesvillage.net.

FISHING DERBY -- Piney Run Park will hold the Governor's Youth Fishing Derby from 6 a.m. to noon at the park, 30 Martz Road, near Eldersburg. Children younger than age 16 can fish for prizes from boats or from the shore. Registration is $3, with park entrance fees waived for participants. 410-795-5165.

SUNDAY

KIDS CARNIVAL -- The sixth annual "Kids 2 Kids Carnival" will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Rosenbloom Jewish Community Center, 3506 Gwynnbrook Ave., Owings Mills. Admission is free. Proceeds benefit the Teen Campaign of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. 410-369-9311.
