Helminiak will make a bid for House seat

May 28, 2006

Larry Helminiak, a long-time South Carroll resident and retired small-business owner, has announced that he is running for the Republican nomination for the District 9B House of Delegates seat.

He said he believes that the ever-growing tax burden on Carroll residents has reached its limit and needs to be brought under control.

If elected, Helminiak said he would not vote to increase taxes above where they are now and would work toward scaling back the increases that were voted in by the 2006 General Assembly.

Helminiak has lived in the Eldersburg area since 1969. He retired in 2004 from Carroll Insulation, the company he founded in 1970.

Helminiak has been a member of the Carroll County Republican Central Committee since 2004. He ran for the newly created 9B seat in a crowded primary in 2002, when he finished second to Del. Susan W. Krebs.

He and his wife of 38 years, Rosemarie, have two children and five grandchildren.
