Mall urges public to display the flag

Marley Station, 7900 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, and more than 500 other shopping centers will team up for "An Old Glory*ous Celebration" to urge shoppers to display the American flag on Flag Day.

The event will conclude on Flag Day, June 14.

Chamber schedules networking seminar

The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will hold the final session of the "Learn Like a Pro" seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the BWCC office, 312 Marshall Ave., Suite 104, Laurel.

Session 4, "Strategic Client Development," will focus on networking goals, choosing network arenas and follow-up tips.

The cost is $20 (in advance) for members, and $30 for members at the door and nonmembers.

Tribute to women set for Thursday

M&T Bank and the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County will hold the 21st annual Tribute to Women and Industry awards dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday at the BWI Marriott Hotel, 1743 W. Nursery Road, Linthicum. Tickets are $60.

AACC schedules 2 culinary tours

Anne Arundel Community College's Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Tourism Institute is offering two culinary travel experiences this summer:

June 17 to 27 -- A 10-day excursion with a guided tour of Rome, the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel before traveling to the Amalfi coast.

Aug. 5 to 12 -- A seven-day trip to the Pacific Northwest with tours to select wineries.

Gibson named to round table

Virgil L. Gibson, a regional management associate with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, has earned membership in the 2006 Million Dollar Round Table.

Gibson, of Severn, qualified for this honor based on his sales excellence, outstanding client service, ethical conduct and professional knowledge.

Owens names 3 to board on aging

Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens has appointed three residents to the Area Agency of Aging Advisory Council: Randy Marshall of Edgewater, Phyllis Mentzell of Arnold and Elizabeth Hildt of Brooklyn Park.

The council advises the Department of Aging and Disabilities on matters relating to the social, economic and environmental needs of the county's senior residents.

Eye bank honors medical center

The Medical Eye Bank of Maryland has named Baltimore Washington Medical Center its Hospital of the Year for 2005.

The honor is based on the number of cornea donors and the medical center's referral rate.
