Pipe repair spurs call for saving water

Baltimore: Southwest

People living in southwestern Baltimore and Baltimore County are being asked to voluntarily conserve water as the city's Department of Public Works repairs a 54-inch water main.

The request for voluntary conservation - beginning yesterday and expected to last about five weeks - asks residents to take shorter showers, operate the dishwasher only when full, limit outdoor watering of lawns and gardens, avoid power-washing and repair leaks.

The voluntary conservation applies to people living in ZIP codes 21227, 21228, 21229, 21250. If the water pressure becomes too low, city residents may call 311 and county residents may call 410-396-5352.
