Carroll County Snapshots

Mike Yingling, North Carroll

SPORT BASEBALL

BOYS

STATS -- Yingling has 27 assists in his first 21 games, a high mark for a catcher. He also has a .389 on-base percentage and has driven in 14 runs, including several in clutch situations.

SIDELINES -- Though considered one of the team's most valuable assets, much of the junior's on-field accomplishments won't show up in box scores. He has become one of the county's best at handling pitchers and keeping opposing base runners in check. When he's not on the diamond, Yingling likes to go fishing at a local pond. He's also a standout in the classroom, maintaining a solid B average, which he hopes to parlay into a business degree in college. His older brother, Jeff, was a 2001 North Carroll graduate who played shortstop.
