CRIME WATCH

May 23, 2006|By RICHARD IRWIN

The body of a young man was found yesterday morning in the basement of a Northeast Baltimore apartment building, apparently hours after he was shot to death, city police said.

Shortly after 10 a.m., a maintenance man for Maple Glen Apartments in the 6000 block of Amberwood Road found the body near a storage room, said Agent Donny Moses, a police spokesman. He said the victim - whose name was being withheld - suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Residents of the apartment building told investigators of hearing at least one gunshot about 3 a.m., but they did not call police, Moses said, adding that the condition of the body indicated the man had been dead for several hours.

Also yesterday, police identified a man fatally shot outside a Citgo station in the 1100 block of Dundalk Ave. on Saturday evening as Lynn D. Lettley, 28, of the first block of Thornhurst Court in Essex.

Police identified the victims in two killings May 16 in the 2000 block of Eagle St. in Southwest Baltimore as Aaron Wilson, 24, of the 100 block of S. Hilton St. and Steven Wallace, 28, of the 1000 block of W. Fairmount Ave.

Metro Crime Stoppers, 410-276-8888, is offering a reward of up to $2,000 leading to an arrest and indictment in the killings.
