Roch Around the Clock

The Kickoff

My Preakness experience will come in handy. Now I can watch a baseball team go around in circles.

I received some excellent feedback from readers concerning Barbaro's injury. Here's one that I'd like to share, from Barbara: "As I watched him being saddled and walked, I noticed he was off in his suspensory and stifle ... he `hitched' ... just a tad, but I intuitively knew it was not good. I actually called my mom prior to the race and mentioned it to her and said I felt something serious was going to happen and I wish there was somehow to call the trainer. Am I a nut case? No. ... I do massage therapy and energy rehabbing on horses and have seen and found things that vets have been unable to find. It is called being a healer and intuitive. I am shaken to my very core. ... Barbaro has an amazing spirit in his eyes and he should have grown old as one of the top racehorses in the world. Sadly as long as we start horses too young both mentally and physically we will continually see these tragedies."

A special hello to Eilish, who wanted me to pick some of those "pretty yellow daisies" for her at Saturday's Preakness. I guess you don't see many of those out in California. I'll try to bring you a horse, too. I'll just have to sneak it on a plane. Airport security is pretty tight these days, and some airlines are limiting the number of carry-on items, but I'll see what I can do.
