The eighth annual Bike to Work Day was celebrated nationwide this week and across the Baltimore region Friday.

Between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., cyclist commuters converged on four locations: City Hall in Baltimore, Courthouse Plaza in Towson, the Harford County Office Building in Bel Air and City Dock in Annapolis.

Organizers stressed that cycling reduces traffic, pollution and commuting costs and improves public health. Registered participants received T-shirts, and a new bike was given away.
