Marking Senior Health and Fitness Day

The Western Howard County Senior Center, 1125 St. Michaels Road, Mount Airy, will participate in the 13th National Senior Health and Fitness Day. Exercise-class demonstrations, vendors and screenings are planned from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 31.

Those who want to participate in an exercise class should wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Lunch will be available at noon for a suggested donation of $2. The menu is Tuscan bean soup, an Italian meatball sub, spinach, marinated cucumbers and onions, and sliced pears. Reservations are required tomorrow.

Deposit due tomorrow for dance camp

Marriotts Ridge High School will hold a summer dance camp for incoming freshmen, sophomores and juniors July 17-20 in the school's dance studio. Choreographers will teach routines in jazz, funk, hip-hop and kick-line.

The cost is $135. A $50 deposit is due tomorrow. The camp will accept up to 25 dancers.

Registration is open for the MRHS Mustang Boosters Club Summer Camp, offering athletic programs throughout the summer for children in grades three to eight. Activities will include lacrosse, softball, baseball, football, basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball and field hockey.

The cost will be $125 a camp, including a camp shirt or reversible practice jersey and camp awards and certificates.

PSAT/SAT prep course at River Hill High

River Hill High School will offer its summer PSAT/SAT prep course, in preparation for the October tests. Two sessions will be offered -- from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, starting June 19.

Session 1 will begin with a verbal review at 9 a.m. and a math review that starts at 10:45 a.m. Session 2 begins with the math review at 9 a.m. and the verbal review at 10:45 a.m. Classes are limited to 15 students a session.

The cost is $275 for both math and verbal classes; $175 for either math or verbal. Limited financial aid is available.

Students must register by June 9.

Donations sought for 11th Media Sale

Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran Church, 14551 Burntwoods Road, Glenwood, is collecting books, videos, compact discs, digital video discs and records for its 11th Media Sale.

Items can be left in or around the blue box at the parking lot side entrance to the church. Forms for a tax deduction are inside the lid of the box. Do not leave donations if rain is predicted. If a car is parked near the door and the door is unlocked, contributors should feel free to enter and place donations on any table in the church.

Encyclopedias and National Geographic magazines are not accepted.

Enlists -- Patrick A. Dantzic, son of Colleen Williams of Mount Airy and Dale Dantzic of Capitol Heights, has joined the Air Force under the Delayed Entry Program, which allows a delay of up to one year before going into basic training. The 1999 graduate of Linganore High School has reported to Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
