Public screening of `Idol' finale set

The Carroll County Arts Council will hold a public screening of the American Idol finale, at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5, and refreshments will be sold. All proceeds will go toward the Arts Council's college scholarship program.

For security considerations, audience members younger than 13 must attend with an adult. Large signs will not be permitted.

Advance tickets are required and can be purchased at the box office.

Historical society organizes D.C. trip

The Historical Society of Carroll County is sponsoring a trip June 1 to Washington to see the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum, the headquarters of the Organization of American States and the Corcoran Gallery of Art, where lunch will be held.

Time will be allotted for seeing exhibitions and special rooms and features of the buildings.

The bus will leave at 8 a.m. from the Church of the Ascension parking lot and return around 5 p.m.

The cost is $65 for society members and $75 for others. Reservations are required by Thursday.

Bus trip planned to see `Spamalot'

The Carroll County Arts Council will sponsor a bus trip June 27 to the National Theatre in Washington to see Spamalot.

Passengers will have orchestra seats for this Broadway musical.

Taken from Monty Python & the Holy Grail, the comedic show retells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

A box supper will be served on the bus, which will leave at 5:45 p.m. and return at midnight.

Tickets are $145, or $135 for Arts Council members. Reservations are required.
