Roch Around The Clock

May 20, 2006|By ROCH KUBATKO

I appreciate how so many of you have come to my rescue, or at least pitied me enough, and tried to make me feel more comfortable about blogging from the Preakness today.

Maybe it won't seem so different from covering baseball. At least not according to one reader: "Down on the field, you have your drunks who are wrestling around and getting thrown out [that would be the part that's similar to baseball]. Then in the grandstand, you have your rich people all dressed up and sipping champagne and hobnobbing with each other [oh, wait a minute, that sounds similar to Angelos baseball, too]. Well, never mind the differences. I guess they're more similar than we thought."

I feel better already. ...

I can't stress this enough, but I know absolutely nothing about the sport of horse racing - except it's a favorite of kings.

Who won the Kentucky Derby?

To me, it's NASCAR without all the cool crashes. But I'll be there, providing the kind of insight you won't find anywhere else. That much, I can promise you.
