Matchup -- Bayhawks (0-0) at Long Island Lizards (0-0)

Site -- Mitchel Field, Uniondale, N.Y.

Time -- 7:30

Outlook -- The Bayhawks begin their season with the team they beat to win the Major League Lacrosse championship in August. The major difference for the Bayhawks (12-2 in 2005) is the absence of the team's leading scorer and league co-Most Valuable Player, Gary Gait, who earned playoff MVP honors after scoring six goals in the title game and left the team after co-owner Scott Hiller took over the coaching duties. Most notable for the Lizards (5-9 last year) was their ability to retain former Loyola College player Tim Goettelmann, an attacker who holds the MLL record for goals in one game (nine). Long Island lost Goettlemann to Denver in an expansion draft but got him back in a trade.
