Amanda Fefel pitched a no-hitter as host Catonsville defeated Franklin, 6-0, in the Class 3A North softball regional final yesterday.

Fefel (17-3) has pitched 14 straight no-hit innings over three games this week. She struck out eight in the win for the Comets (19-4).

Nicole Chupka paced Catonsville's balanced offense, finishing 1-for-2 with an RBI.


No. 3 Mount St. Joseph 4, St. Paul's 1 -- Starter Bryan Hamilton struck out 10 in six innings. He also went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the host Gaels (20-5) eliminated the Crusaders from the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference tournament.

No. 12 Franklin 3, Dundalk 1 -- Sophmore Danny Chaconas pitched his way out of bases-loaded jams in the first and second innings to help the Indians (17-3) defeat the visiting Owls in the Class 3A North regional semifinals. Franklin will host Catonsville at 2 p.m. today in the regional title game.

Park 14, Lutheran 4 -- John Gill drove in four runs, including a three-run homer in the second inning, to help the visiting Bruins put away the Saints in the elimination round of the MIAA B Conference tournament.
