Rose, Francis Fentress

FRANCIS FENTRESS ROSE, 89, died on May 15, 2006. From 1984 until October 2005 she was a resident of Charlestown Retirement Community and active volunteer in Catonsville, Maryland. Washington, DC, and Arlington, VA had been her home since 1943. Since October 2005 she has resided at Morningside Assisted Living of Athens, GA. Mrs. Rose was born in Missoula, Montana on March 25, 1917. In 1924, at the death of her mother, she and her sister made their home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. After graduation from high school, she attended Oklahoma State College and obtained a Master's Degree in elementary education in 1937. She taught school in Oklahoma before leaving the teaching profession for work with the US government, from which she retired in 1984. She was the widow of the late Rial Nelson Rose, a translator for the US Army during World War II who worked as a linguist for the US government until 1984. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Dean and Jill Rose of Athens, GA, John Bash of Athens, GA, grandsons DJ Rose and Tim Rose of Virginia, and her niece Fran Simmons of Baltimore, Maryland and her husband Gary. She was a loving mother, grandmother and wife. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be Saturday May 20, 2006 at 2:00 PM, at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, 4355 Lexington Rd., Athens, GA. 30605, ph #706-546-1587.
