Sky high

The lowdown -- The Blue Angels cut through the sky above the Severn River at the Naval Academy twice in the next week -- once for practice Tuesday and then for a full-on flight demonstration Wednesday to celebrate graduation week.

Living flag

The lowdown -- About 3,000 third- through fifth-graders will join together at Fort McHenry on Tuesday to form the Living American Flag. The children raise colored squares overhead to make the 15 stars and stripes flag that flew over Fort McHenry during its famous battle. There will be a band and historical figures.

Model of seaworthiness

The lowdown -- This weekend, two model-boat organizations will set up a large foot-deep pond inside the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for the Maritime Model Boat Expo. About 20 steam-powered and remote-controlled powerboats will plow through the minilake, four or five at a time. Outside at the Waterfront Park, skipjacks will race model sailboats on the nearby cove.
