Utility told to supply facts

Miller, Busch seek data on merger, value of plants, bonuses, electricity purchasing

May 17, 2006|By ANDREW A. GREEN | ANDREW A. GREEN,SUN REPORTER

Maryland's top legislators demanded yesterday that Constellation Energy Group disclose how much money its executives would reap from a merger with a Florida utility, and how much of the higher-priced electricity BGE is buying would be produced by its parent company.

The information is a precursor to a possible special session of the General Assembly that would deal with a pending 72 percent average increase in BGE's electric rates for residential customers, said Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller and House Speaker Michael E. Busch.

Hancock BGE customers could foot part of the bill for Florida hurricane damage. pg 1d
