Howard County firefighters rescued a woman from the fourth floor of a burning apartment building in Columbia yesterday, department spokesman William Mould said.
Forty firefighters extinguished the one-alarm blaze, which started shortly before 3 p.m. at the Dorsey's Forge Apartments in the 9600 block of Whiteacre Road.
The woman, who was rescued from the fourth floor, was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center for severe smoke inhalation, and another woman suffered an asthma attack and was treated at the scene, Mould said.
