Car hits boy on Roland Ave.

May 13, 2006

An 11-year-old boy crossing a street in North Baltimore was struck by a car and injured yesterday morning, a city police spokesman said.

Agent Donny Moses said the accident occurred about 7:45 a.m. in the 5300 block of Roland Ave., in front of Roland Park Country School. Moses said the boy, who was not identified, suffered a broken leg.

The spokesman said the driver of the car, whose name was not released, had a green light and was not at fault. "The child dashed out in front of the car," Moses said.

A crossing guard is assigned a block away, at Roland Park Elementary and Middle School, but was not there yesterday because public schools were closed.
