Preakness parade set for tomorrow

Baltimore's Westside Preakness Parade is scheduled for tomorrow morning along Eutaw Street. It will begin at 11 a.m. at Eutaw and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and proceed south on Eutaw to Redwood Street.

Reviewing stands will be at Eutaw and Lexington streets, and in front of the Hippodrome Theatre.

The parade, which kicks off Preakness Celebration 2006 in Baltimore, will include equestrian units, bands, floats and giant helium balloons.

The following streets will be closed tomorrow:

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Madison Avenue from Dolphin Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard; Preston Street from Eutaw Street to Madison Avenue; and Eutaw Street from Dolphin Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

From 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Redwood Street from Howard Street to Paca Street; Eutaw Street from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Pratt Street; and Pratt Street from Paca Street to Howard Street.

Parking will be restricted on both sides of all those streets from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to the parade, a Preakness 5K race will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. No streets will be closed, but city officials urge motorists to use caution on and around Northern Parkway and Pimlico Road, where runners will use one traffic lane.
