Melvin Mora's hands went up as soon as the ball bounded off the grass in shallow left field. He raised them high and then pointed to an Orioles dugout that for the past five games had virtually nothing to get excited about.

The Orioles needed something to break them out of their losing ways. Eventually, it took a key defensive play, a strikeout from a struggling reliever, a rare costly miscue from an opponent and then Mora's second clutch hit in as many innings.
