ANNE MARIE SMITH (nee Kowalewski), 82, of Ft. Myers, died on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Hope Hospice House. She was born October 28, 1924 in Baltimore, MD to Maryanna and Stanislaw Kowalewski. She graduated from St. Agnes Hospital Nursing School in 1947. She pursued an exciting career at John Hopkins Hospital for 23 years as a surgical nurse in the operating room, followed by an extensive period in various research projects. Anne married J. Henry Smith of Baltimore in 1970. He was employed with the Bendix Field Engineering Corp. as the station business manager on various NASA satellite tracking stations around the world. Anne enjoyed assignments of 2 to 5 years each in Madagascar, Quito Ecuador, Bermuda, and the island of Guam. Anne volunteered extensively with numerous charitable organizations. Upon retirement in 1988, she settled in SW Florida, where she was a volunteer at the Cape Coral Hospital thrift shop for 10 years. Anne is survived by her husband, Henry of Ft. Myers, and her sister, Mary Acquinata of Lodi, N.J. A memorial service will be held at St. Hilary's Episcopal Church on Monday, May 15th at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Hilary's Episcopal Church, 5011 Mc Gregor Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33901
