Question of the day

The Kickoff

May 09, 2006

Did Barbaro look like a Triple Crown horse on Saturday?

Yes, bred to go long if he wins the Preakness. Only the grind prevents winning the Crown. The Preakness is telltale, as the better horses will be back with better post positions.

Triple Crowns are a rare event, but Edgar Prado ran a flawless Derby race, and Barbaro wasn't even winded at the finish. He'll be fresh for the Preakness, but the real test might be the Belmont distance of 1 1/2 miles.
