May 06, 2006

Maryland State Police have identified the woman whose body was found by two motorists along the eastbound shoulder of I-70 in Frederick County.

Police said the victim was Dusty N. Shuck, 24, of Silver City, N.M., who died of head trauma and a slashed throat.

Police, who said she was identified through fingerprints, are treating the death as a homicide. The state medical examiner confirmed the cause of death yesterday.

Troopers responded to the area along the highway east of Bill Moxley Road near Mount Airy about 6 a.m. Thursday. Two motorists had reported finding the body of a fully clothed woman in a dirt and grass area near the right shoulder, police said.

Investigators contacted New Mexico authorities and have located the next of kin, who were notified yesterday. Shuck was last seen in New Mexico about 10 days ago.

Anyone with information about the incident should call state police at 301-644-4150.
