UM's Ibekwe expected to stay put

Maryland junior Ekene Ibekwe has declared for the NBA draft, according to a list of players released by the league, but he is expected to withdraw before the June 18 deadline and return for his senior year with the Terps.

Maryland guard D.J. Strawberry is not on the list for the June 28 draft.

Ibekwe, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Carson, Calif., led Maryland with 6.6 rebounds a game and averaged 11.1 points last season.

Also, Maryland officially announced yesterday that former assistant coach Rob Moxley had accepted a position as associate head coach at the University of Charlotte. Moxley, who also served as the Terps' recruiting coordinator, spent seven seasons as an assistant at Charlotte before joining the Maryland staff last spring.

Moxley helped lure four players during early signing in November. The signing class was ranked 18th in the country by In addition, Maryland recently added 6-8 forward Bambale Osby from Paris (Texas) Junior College.
