City woman, 31, found slain in her home

A 31-year-old woman was found fatally stabbed Saturday night in her home in Baltimore's Brooklyn section, city police reported yesterday as they continued their investigation.

The body of Mary Galston of the 4100 block of Hyden Court, near Baybrook Park, was found lying in a room shortly before 9 p.m. when her brother arrived for a visit, said Agent Donny Moses, a police spokesman.

"When he found his sister, the brother immediately dialed 911," Moses said, adding that Galston was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Police declined to describe the crime scene or say in which room the woman was found.

Police said it was not known whether Galston's assailant had broken into her home or whether any property appeared to be missing.

Metro Crime Stoppers, at 410-276-8888, is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

Man accused of stabbing wife

Howard County police arrested and charged a 53-year-old man in the stabbing yesterday of his estranged wife in Columbia.

Natalyn Tart-Jones, 49, of the 8700 block of Hayshed Lane in Columbia was stabbed in the head, face and hands. She was in serious but stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center yesterday.

A neighbor witnessed a dispute outside Tart-Jones' apartment building and called police about 8:10 a.m. Officers later found Frederick Jones, whose address is unknown, in Elkridge and arrested him.

He has been charged with attempted murder and violating a court order to stay away from the victim.
