Celebration of cultures to be held Saturday

The Association of Chinese Americans - Howard County will present the fourth Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month celebration from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Reservoir High School, in Fulton.

The not-for-profit organization represents Chinese-American residents in Howard County. The festival will also celebrate Filipino, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Pakistani, Vietnamese and other cultures.

Admission is free. Children to age 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Reservoir High School is at 11550 Scaggsville Road.

Seniors dance -- In celebration of Older Americans Month, the Howard County Office on Aging will hold a Spring Dinner Dance in the Great Room at Savage Mill from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Goldenaires will perform. The dinner will be a buffet. Tickets are $13 and are to be available at senior centers. 410-313-7213.

Attic stories -- Laurel Museum, 817 Main St., is showing its 10th anniversary exhibit, Stories From the Attic: 10 Years of Collecting. Objects from the museum's collection are on display along with the stories behind them. Admission is free. Writer's Circle -- Aspiring writers can share their original work with others for mutual support and critiques at the Savage branch library's Writer's Circle, to be held at 7 p.m. May 8. Registration is required.

The library will offer a High School Flashback Movie Night with a high school-themed movie (the title is to be announced) at 6:30 p.m. May 9. Registration is required.

The library's Non-Fiction Book Club will discuss Fermat's Last Theorem, by Amir D. Aczel, at 7 p.m. May 17. Registration is not needed. Copies of the books are available at the branch. The library is at 9525 Durness Lane. 410-880-5980.

Golf tourney -- Fulton Elementary and Lime Kiln Middle schools invite members of the community to organize a foursome and participate in a golf tournament at 1 p.m. May 10 at Hampshire Greens, an 18-hole, 6,800-yard, par 72 course near Ednor Road and New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. Novice golfers can take an hourlong clinic to learn the basics. The cost is $380 a foursome or $100 for individuals and includes 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, a beverage cart during the round and admission to an after-party with food, beverages, prizes and a raffle. PACE -- Savage Senior Center offers an eight-week PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) class Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The class uses gentle activities to increase joint flexibility and range of motion and to maintain strength. The cost is $20. A release form is required. Savage Senior Center is at 9525 Durness Lane.
