Wilde Lake Community Association will hold its "Taste of Wilde Lake" from noon to 4 p.m. May 13 in Wilde Lake Village Center.
Free food and lemonade, balloon animals, a craft show, face painting, belly-dancing and other dance demonstrations, fencing, and a gelatin-eating contest are planned.
For Mother's Day, photos will be taken with a giant red rose from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Crafts will be for sale, starting at noon.
Volunteers are needed for the event, which is sponsored by Wilde Lake Community Association and Wilde Lake merchants.

Cooking, nutrition class for kids May 11
The Wilde Lake Community Association will offer a cooking and nutrition class for children, "Culinary Kids," from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. May 11.
Children ages 4 and 5 will learn to prepare nutritious treats. The course is intended to build a foundation of healthy habits.
The cost is $22. Columbia lien-payers can request a 10 percent discount. Registration is required.

Atholton High plans benefit yard sale
Atholton High School will be host for a yard sale from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. May 13 to benefit the classes of 2008 and 2009.
The event will be held in the school parking lot.
Spaces for sellers are $10. Donations are being accepted of items for students to sell.

Around town`Gilda' -- Slayton House Theatre in Wilde Lake Village Center will continue its Marvelous Movies and More film series with a showing of the 1946 film Gilda, with Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford, at 3 p.m. today. The showing was originally scheduled for April 21. Film critic Mike Giuliano will lead a short discussion after the film. Coffee and dessert will be served. The cost is $7; $6 for senior citizens and students. Seating is limited. Tickets are available in advance at Slayton House, or they can be purchased at the door, if they are available. 410- 730-3987.
Tap dance -- Judy Templeton will offer a four-week minisession of Razz-A-Ma-Tap classes for teens and adults, starting tomorrow. Intermediates will meet at 5 p.m. Mondays; beginners at 6 p.m. 410-772-9448.
