Gilman boys lacrosse edges McDonogh, 9-8

Brian Carroll scored with 2.7 seconds left in overtime to give No. 3 Gilman a 9-8 win over No. 5 McDonogh yesterday in boys lacrosse.

Kevin Carroll (two goals) took a pass from Brian Carroll (two goals, two assists) to tie the game late in the fourth quarter to send it into the extra period for the Greyhounds (10-4).

Bryn Holmes had four goals for the host Eagles (11-4) and Tyler Fiorito had 14 saves.

Girls lacrosse

Maryvale 8, No. 3 St. Mary's 7 -- Erin McDonald (one goal, one assist) scored the game-winner with 3:24 remaining as the host Lions (6-8) upset the Saints (11-3). Paige Ibello led Maryvale with three goals. Sam Schrum had a game-high four points (three goals, one assist) for St. Mary's.
