Sabrina Mullaney scored on a throwing error by Seton Keough's Diana Hiteshew in the top of the seventh inning as unranked Institute of Notre Dame upset the fifth-ranked Gators, 1-0, yesterday in a Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference softball game.

Mullaney, a pinch runner for Jessica Vetock, stole second and third base before the error.

Colleen Matthews earned the win, pitching a complete game with 11 strikeouts and allowing four hits for the Indians (14-6, 8-4). She escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the first inning.

Carly Martin carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning for the Gators (10-4, 9-4). She finished with 14 strikeouts.

Mount de Sales 6, No. 9 John Carroll 5 -- Kate Whitehead hit an RBI single to give the host Sailors the upset win over the Patriots (8-5). Down 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Stacey Roust had an RBI single to end a five-inning scoring drought for Mount de Sales and tie the score at 5.

No. 4 Archbishop Spalding 10, McDonogh 0 -- Nicole Reeder went 3-for-3 with two triples to lift the Cavaliers (13-4) past the Eagles.

No. 13 St. Vincent Pallotti 6, Mercy 0 -- Ronnie Lott scored three runs and finished 2-for-3 with a walk and a triple to lead the Panthers (12-8, 7-4) over the visiting Magic.

Boys lacrosse

No. 1 Boys' Latin 17, No. 10 St. Mary's 4 -- Chris Boland (seven assists, one goal) had a game-high eight points for the Lakers (17-0) at M&T Bank Stadium. Travis Reed and David Bronfein each added three goals and an assist in the win. Matt Lamon scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Saints (4-7).

No. 8 Mount St. Joseph 12, Catonsville 3 -- Pete Buttert scored three goals and Tim Anderson had two goals and an assist to pace the visiting Gaels (11-5).

No. 15 South Carroll 10, Walkersville 9 -- Hunt Demarest scored two goals and Joey Grimes scored one of his three in the second half to push the visiting Cavaliers past the Lions after a 7-7 halftime tie. Danny Geary led the Cavaliers with four goals and Chad Benford led all scorers with seven goals and an assist for the Lions.

Girls lacrosse

No. 6 Dulaney 20, Parkville 1 -- Kristen Horsman had four goals and an assist as the visiting Lions (7-2) routed the Knights.

No. 9 Towson 12, Eastern Tech 3 -- Lacey Mahley had two goals and an assist to pace the host Generals (11-0).

No. 11 Broadneck 14, Annapolis 8 -- Ali Flury scored six goals and Jessie Heisterman added three goals and three assists to lead the Bruins (10-2) over the Panthers.

Franklin 11, Pikesville 8 -- Erin Chisnell led the Indians (2-11) with three goals and an assist. Emily Kirby contributed two goals and an assist in the win. Rebecca Misler led all scorers with five goals for the host Panthers.
