Orioles' attendance falls 3,000 per game from last year

The day dawned clear and temperate. The home team entered with a winning record. The opponent was a 2005 division winner led by one of the game's best players.

It seemed a perfect occasion to see a ballgame. And yet, as Orioles starter Kris Benson threw his first pitch against the Los Angeles Angels on Easter Sunday, vast expanses of empty green seats could be seen all around Camden Yards.
