Nixon Nation

Hometown -- Baltimore

Current members --Kevin M. Thomas, lead vocals and bass; Josh Miller, guitar and background vocals; Billy Esposito, drums and background vocals

Founded in --2004

Style --rock

Influenced by --Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Sting, Iron Maiden, Steely Dan and R.E.M.

Notable --Band members chose the odd name because it grabs attention and because the former president got the job done, whether you loved or hated him, Thomas said. The band takes the same uncompromising approach to the music, he said.

Quotable --"We're going to write the music that's coming from our heart and from our soul," Thomas said. "Regardless of whether it's commercial or mainstream today, that's what's going to come out. We look for no feedback in our music, whether it's going to help or hurt us, we play what comes from us."

Hear Nixon Nation at 9 p.m. Saturday at Red House Tavern, 2239 Essex St. Free. Call 410-522-3220. For more information about the band, go to
