Dan Holley, Reservoir

STATS -- The Gators' senior left fielder is starting for the first time on varsity, batting .322 and providing flawless play in the field. Set to challenge for a varsity spot in his sophomore year, Holley broke his elbow (requiring surgery) just prior to the start of the season. He made varsity last spring as a backup on a senior-laden team and is now making the most of his opportunity. In a 14-10 loss to Hammond on Friday, he hit two homers, including a grand slam.

SIDELINES -- In addition to playing baseball, which he has done since he was 5, Holley played three years of varsity basketball, seeing time at small forward and shooting guard. Carrying a 3.6 grade point average, he is considering business as a major, with Maryland and James Madison as potential college options. Holley is a fan of the Orioles, Redskins and Wizards.
