GIRLS

STATS -- Carey, a sophomore midfielder, scored a game-high five goals in then-No. 14 John Carroll's upset overtime win over then-No. 5 St. Paul's last week. This season, she has 45 ground balls, 39 goals and 27 assists for the Patriots.

SIDELINES -- Carey helped the soccer team to its second straight Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference title last fall. She was one of the top three scorers on the team and was named to the All-Harford County second team. She was inducted into the National and Spanish honor societies this week with a 3.8 grade point average. She has already received attention from Division I schools such as Northwestern and Vanderbilt for lacrosse. Carey also plays for the Parkville Soccer Club Elite and the Skywalkers club lacrosse team.
