Calvert Hall wins, 17-14

Joe Vellegia went 3-for-4 with two doubles, scored three runs and had three RBIs to lead No. 2 Calvert Hall to a 17-14 victory over visiting Wantagh (N.Y.) in high school baseball yesterday.

Jeff Guthridge was 2-for-2, scored a run and had an RBI for the Cardinals (17-3).

Pallotti 10, Tri-Valley Central School (N.Y.) 9 -- Billy Ruddy hit a double to drive in Brian Meekins in the ninth inning and lift the Panthers (11-6) over visiting Tri-Valley.

Owings Mills 4, No. 10 Franklin 3 (Tuesday) -- Senior right-hander Josh Wenderoth scattered five hits over nine innings and went 4-for-5 at the plate, and Cody Rosen drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Eagles (7-2) past the Indians (6-2).

Boys lacrosse

No. 14 Mount Hebron 12, Carthage (N.Y.) 11 -- Evan Nicholson scored with 3:40 left in overtime to give the host Vikings (8-2) the win over the Comets. Carthage's Mario Ventiquatro (four goals) sent the game into overtime. Mount Hebron's Tom Incontrera scored a game-high five goals.
