On Saturday, April 15, 2006 GEORGE JOHN WATKINS III, went to be with the Lord. He was the loving and devoted husband of 55 years to Mary V. Watkins (nee Bromwell), the devoted son of the late George J. and Edna Mae Dacan Watkins. Mr. Watkins was the beloved father to five children: Mary Ellen Watkins Taylor and her husband Zachary of La Grange, GA, Benita Watkins Hicks and her husband Douglas of Towson, George William Watkins and his wife Andrea of Marbury, Stephen Thomas Watkins and his wife Allison of Rogers Forge and Matthew Damian Watkins and his wife Rachel of Elkton; the dear brother to seven sisters: Ann Lewis, the late Catherine Watkins, Dolores Corbett, the late Edna Mae "Jimmie" Janka, Patricia Fellowes, Dorothy Faulkner and Charlotte Yost. Mr. Watkins' main joy was to be the grandfather to 19 adoring grandchildren. Mr. Watkins was a native of Baltimore, a graduate of St. Katherine's School, and Mount St. Joseph's High School. He served his country in the Korean Conflict and served his community as a little league coach. Mr. Watkins worked for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company until his retirement in 1993. He was then an enthusiastic member of the "Gas House Golf Gang" in Clifton Park. Friends may call the Evans Chapel of Memories-Parkville Tuesday, April 18, 2006 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Crest Village Chapel. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions in George's name may be made to the Disabled American Veteran Department of Maryland Inc. War Memorial Building Room B, 101 N.
