Indians update

The Indians split a four-game series with the Detroit Tigers over the weekend and are 8-5 after a 6-1 start. Cleveland designated hitter Travis Hafner has opened on a tear, batting .354 with seven homers and an .854 slugging percentage. Catcher Victor Martinez is batting .408 and outfielder Casey Blake is batting .419. Former Oriole Jason Johnson will start for the Indians tonight. Johnson has a 2.13 ERA, which would have ranked fourth in the American League yesterday if he had pitched enough innings. The Orioles will also face rookie Fausto Carmona, who allowed one run in his first career start against Detroit. Cleveland's veteran closer, Bob Wickman, has three saves in three chances. The Indians won six of seven against the Orioles in 2005.
