Man fatally shot while driving car

A man was fatally shot early yesterday in South Baltimore, police said. The man was shot about 12:45 a.m. while driving a 1988 Cadillac in the 3000 block of Lorena Ave., police said. The Cadillac struck two parked cars, police said, and after it stopped, neighbors pulled the driver from the car. The man, who died at the scene, has not been identified, police said.

Two officers hurt in afternoon crash

Two Baltimore sheriff's deputies were injured when their marked cruiser collided with another vehicle in northern Baltimore yesterday afternoon. Lt. Fred Jackson of the sheriff's office said the deputies were heading east on Northern Parkway about 12:45 p.m., with lights and siren on. When the cruiser approached Charles Street, it collided with another vehicle that appeared to be speeding, Jackson said. Jackson said the cruiser flipped and landed on another vehicle. Both deputies were taken to Mercy Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening and released. It was not immediately known whether other motorists involved in the accident were injured or whether charges were filed.

Pedestrian dies when hit by car

An unidentified woman died after being struck by a car on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway yesterday afternoon, police said. She was walking on the Route 175 ramp to the southbound parkway when she was hit by the driver of a Nissan Maxima, U.S. Park Police said. The victim was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan was uninjured.
