Junior shortstop Michelle Grap led the No. 9 Eagles (8-1) to three wins last week with impressive work at the plate, timely defense and even improvisation.

In a 1-0 win over Hammond on April 3, Grap went 4-for-4, driving in the game-winning run, and also snared a line drive in the seventh inning with the potential tying run on second base. Last Wednesday, she went 1-for-2 with one run scored in a 6-0 win over Atholton. In Friday's 10-0 win over Oakland Mills, she went 2-for-4 with a triple and a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. She also made her first start at first base, replacing injured starter Bailey Kramer.

A captain and first-team All-Howard County selection last spring, Grap has started every game since her freshman year. This season, she is batting .531 with 10 runs, seven RBIs and six extra-base hits, including three triples. With good range, a strong arm and a good understanding of the shortstop position, Grap hasn't made an error this season.

Others considered: Lynn Brown, St. Vincent Pallotti, softball; Rebecca Kreshtool, Pikesville, lacrosse; Jenny Steadman, Century, lacrosse.
