The Orioles started their first homestand of the 2006 season with a deluge of offense and optimism, only to watch it evaporate game by game amid faulty pitching and missed opportunities.

When they left town last evening en route to Florida for their first road trip of the season, the Orioles were a frustrated group, reeling from their fourth straight loss, a 4-1 defeat to Boston before 37,998 at Camden Yards that completed a three-game Red Sox sweep.

O'S DROUGHT

The Orioles' bats have fallen silent since the first two games, except for eight runs and 14 hits after the Red Sox took an 11-0 lead in the fifth inning Friday.
