On April 7, 2006, following a valiant struggle with cancer, WILLIAM "Bill" D. WARNICK, age 79, of Glen Burnie, MD. Bill was born on January 28, 1927, in Piedmont, WV. He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served on the USS Pennsylvania during WWII. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal for his bravery in service to his country. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, he became a life-long member of the American Legion Post # 276 in Severn, MD. Bill was an avid history buff, who also enjoyed the banjo and guitar and listening to Bluegrass music. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Christine and William Lowrimore, of Glen Burnie, MD and Karen and Larry Shelor, of Christiansburg, VA; five grandchildren, Lee Lowrimore, of Lansing, MI, Dawn Beal, of Dundalk, MD, Jerry Lowrimore, of Glen Burnie, MD and Monica and Ryan Shelor, of Christiansburg, VA; two great-grandchildren, as well as one sister, Lori Vacek, of Glen Burnie, MD, and two brothers, Charles Warnick and his wife Nancy, of Glen Burnie, MD and Thomas Sprought and his fiancee Debbie Coby, of Linthicum, MD. The family would like to thank Dr. Mayer Gorbaty for his professional care and compassion during our loved ones illness. The family will receive visitors at the family owned Singleton Funeral Home, 1 Second Avenue S.W. (at Crain Hwy), Glen Burnie, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 on Monday.
