Westminster egg hunts are Saturday

Westminster City Recreation will hold its annual Easter egg hunts Saturday at the City Hall grounds on Emerald Lane.

The first hunt will start at 10:30 a.m. for ages 1 to 4, and the second for ages 5 to 8 is at 11:30 a.m.

More than 4,000 filled plastic Easter eggs, with 100 prize eggs, will be hidden. Children must take their own basket.

The event will include a visit from the Easter Bunny, a bunny petting zoo, fire truck, face painting, basket raffles and food.

Library has activities for children, adults

Westminster branch library, 50 E. Main St., will offer:

Junior Book Club for ages 7 to 10 years at 4 p.m. Wednesday to discuss The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles by Julie Andrews Edwards.

"Let's Talk Classics" for teens and adults at 7 p.m. Thursday to discuss The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane.

"Cuentos y Cantos: La Noche/Night" at 7 p.m. Thursday for all ages.

"Aha! Science at Your Library Presents Sizzling Sound" for ages 7 to 10 at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Materials will be provided. Registration is required.

"Classical Music: Live at the Library" for all ages (3 and younger with an adult) at 11 a.m. Saturday. Donald Ely and Melissa Feliciano from the Baltimore Bassoon and Guitar Consortium will perform.

Ministerium to hold Walk With the Cross

The Westminster Ministerium will sponsor its annual Walk With the Cross through downtown Westminster, rain or shine, at 11 a.m. Friday with the theme "Good Friday Object Lessons."

The walk will begin at St. John Roman Catholic Church and proceed to St. Paul's United Church of Christ at Bond and Green streets, where a worship service will be held at noon.

Holy Week begins with egg hunt

Grace United Methodist Church will begin Holy Week today with an Easter egg hunt at 9:15 a.m.

The 10:30 a.m. worship today will include a children's processional with palms; the sermon, "The Mind of Christ"; and music, "Blessed Is He," by the sanctuary choir.

A Holy Thursday worship with Communion and the message, "A New Commandment," will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.

A Good Friday Service of Tenebrae (darkness) will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.

Easter Sunday will begin with a sunrise service "Jubilee" and breakfast at 7 a.m. April 16. A special Sunday school program, "Celebrate Jesus, Celebrate," will be held at 9:15 a.m. Worship at 10:30 a.m. will feature the sermon "He Appeared Also to Me."

Senior center plans Easter celebration

The North Carroll Senior Center, 2255 Hanover Pike, Greenmount, plans an Easter celebration at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with entertainment by the North Carroll Ninth Grade Chorus.

North Carroll branch library, 2255 Hanover Pike, Greenmount, will offer:

The North Carroll Book Discussion Group for ages 9 to 13 at 6:45 p.m. tomorrow to discuss Window of Time by Karen Weinberg.

Emmanuel (Baust) United Church of Christ will hold a Maundy Thursday Seder meal with Communion at 7 p.m. at 2940 Old Taneytown Road.

A community Easter egg hunt will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday for children up to age 12.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church of New Windsor will distribute palms at the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Palm Sunday worship today at 200 Main St.
