Roch Around The Clock

After Thursday night's shutout loss to the Devil Rays, Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo broke out this gem: "You're not going to win the game if you don't score any runs."

This guy was born to manage.

Seriously, I love Perlozzo's approach so far, rotating guys in the outfield and showing a great deal of flexibility. His lineups have been solid. He's exhibiting a nice feel for handling his pitchers. It's early, but he's proving that he deserved this chance, without all the baggage from last season jammed under his arms.

Now let's see him get David Newhan some at-bats.

A painting hangs in Perlozzo's office from his playing days with the Minnesota Twins. It shows him leaping over a sliding player while making a throw to first. We'll assume he turned the double play.

Perlozzo says his dentist painted it. Nice of the guy to whiten Sammy's teeth, too.

Again, it's early, but what's not to like about Sendy Rleal? The right-hander struck out two Thursday night, getting Russell Branyan to swing through a high, 92-mph fastball and tying up Nick Green with a changeup. Nick Markakis isn't the only rookie worth watching right now.
